Tip to save money on a service call...

Updated: Jul 2, 2020

Too often I have been on a service call because a plug, light or something has stopped working and the solution is very often is as simple as flicking a switch. We take care of our customers and will come to the rescue for any reason you might need, but saving you money is important to us, so here is a tip to help you fix a common problem yourself.

When you lose power to any branch circuit (outside of a more serious problem) most of the time its because a breaker has tripped or a fuse has blown. Obviously when a fuse blows you have to replace it, but what you may not know is that when a breaker trips you must turn it all the way off and then back on. When a breaker trips it doesn't switch to the off position - it goes into the trip position. You will be able to tell because #1 - the breakers rocker switch (most of the time) will look like it is in the middle (in between on/off) and 2 - when you go to turn it on it won't stay on it will fall back to the trip position and not hold on - I'll say it again...turn it all the way off and then back on.

Disclaimer... DO NOT keep resetting a breaker or replacing a fuse over and over because if it keeps happening you have a bigger problem and you need to call a licence electrician to look at the problem.
